Spider Noir Game Version 2.0 Now Live

Spider Noir Game: Web of Shadows 1933 — Version 2.0 is rolling out today. It is a free update for everyone; no patch download, no account, no steps. Refresh the game page and you are on 2.0. Below is the full changelog.

Headline changes

Rebuilt swing physics

The swing model was rebuilt around a fixed-timestep solver, which removes the floaty feel at the top of the arc and tightens the input-to-screen lag. Mid-air corrections are now 40% more responsive on the same hardware.

The Foundry — new rooftop district

A new chapter is live. The Foundry is a chapter-2 district with taller buildings, narrow alleys, and searchlights that sweep every nine seconds. It rewards rhythm players and tight chains. See the gameplay guide for tips.

Evidence is now cross-referenced automatically. When you pin a clue, the journal suggests related evidence in the same scene. Closing a chapter no longer requires you to remember three things at once.

Performance

  • First-paint time reduced by ~30% on mid-range mobile.
  • GC pauses eliminated on the swing scene.
  • Texture memory budget capped per district, with asset streaming on the foundry chapter.
  • Game input lag down to under 32 ms on tested devices.

Mobile

  • Touch buttons repositioned to suit two-handed phone grip.
  • Optional one-handed layout for the right thumb only.
  • Boost and brake now hidden by default to reduce thumb overlap.

Accessibility

  • New high-contrast visual filter (in addition to the noir default).
  • Audio ducking on investigation scenes for clearer voice-over.
  • Reduced-motion option for the camera shake on big swings.
  • Full gamepad mapping support (see the controls reference).

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a crash on Safari iOS 17 when reloading the play area from a deep link.
  • Fixed an issue where the journal would lose pinned evidence if the tab was backgrounded for over an hour.
  • Fixed a save-state mismatch that could rewind the case file by one chapter on Firefox.
  • Fixed clipping on awnings in the Waterfront district.
  • Fixed the searchlight audio loop desync at the start of the Foundry chapter.

Known issues

  • On some Android tablets in landscape, the right-side touch buttons can sit too close to the browser scroll bar. We are working on a layout pass for the next point release.
  • The case file cross-references sometimes suggest a clue you have already dismissed. The hint will hide once you close the chapter.

What is next

Version 2.1 will focus on controller remapping, a new collectible set in Old Money Hill, and a balance pass on the Foundry patrol patterns. We will publish a date once it is locked.
